A dedicated educator of nineteen years, Mrs. Yolonda T. Woods-Gibbs honorably serves as Assistant Principal of Instruction.  She began her career in education in 1996 as a first grade teacher at Oak Park Elementary School.  In 2000, Mrs. Woods-Gibbs became the Direct Instruction Facilitator for Reading and Math at Central Elementary School.  She served in that capacity until 2005 then became the Instructional Coordinator at Vivian Elementary-Middle/Magnet School.  In 2011, the opportunity was presented for

Mrs. Woods-Gibbs to become a member of the administrative team at Turner Elementary/6th Grade Academy.  She gladly accepted the position of Instructional Coordinator and served in that role for one year before becoming the Assistant Principal of Instruction in 2012. 

 

Mrs. Woods-Gibbs earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in  1995 from Grambling State University.  She furthered her education at Louisiana State University in Shreveport and in 1999 earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Mrs. Woods-Gibbs continued studying and completed additional coursework at Grambling State University, Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana Tech University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe earning 30 hours above the Master’s Degree.

 

It is her sincere belief that “Every child has a different learning style and pace.  AND - Every child is unique and not only capable of learning, but also capable of SUCCEEDING.”

 

Mrs. Woods-Gibbs is married to Don P. Gibbs and is the very proud mother of one son, Landon Garner Gibbs.   She is a member of St. Mary Baptist Church and a general member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  In her leisure time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, browsing, attending rodeos and traveling.  

 As a dedicated educator of sixteen years, it is truly an honor to be a member of the administrative team and serve as Instructional Coordinator for grades 3rd – 6th at Turner Elementary / 6th Grade Academy. I am a native of Shreveport and product of Caddo Parish schools. My educational experiences include an Associate of Science degree and Bachelor of Science degree (both with concentrations in Social Sciences) from Louisiana Tech University - Ruston. Shortly thereafter, Alternative Teacher Certification was received from Louisiana State University – Shreveport as well as Highly Qualified Status from the Louisiana Department of Education in the content areas of: Mathematics (6 -12), Science (6-12), Social Studies (6 -12), Mild/Moderate (K-12), Inclusion (K-12), Severe /Profound (K-12). Additionally, I received a Master of Science degree in Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership and +30 master’s degree hours in the area of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University - Minnesota.

 

Prior to teaching in Caddo, I taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in Bossier parish at Central Park Elementary. In August 2000, I began my career in Caddo parish at Turner Elementary / Middle School and Never Left! While at Turner, I taught the following: Mathematics Grades 6th – 8th, Science 6th grade, and Social Studies 6th grade. For the 2009 -2010 school year, I was recognized as Teacher of the Year. I am also a member of the Caddo Parish Mathematics Advisory Committee. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and researching new/innovative strategies to effectively teach students with autism and learning disabilities. I believe Each and Every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. Moreover, I have an intrinsic passion for education that builds upon my personal philosophy, “ALL children can learn.” With that being stated, my goal is to assist teachers at Turner Elementary / 6th Grade Academy with vital tools to ensure that this philosophy transpires on a daily basis. 

A dedicated educator of thirteen years, Ms. LaKeisha Goree honorably serves as the PreK- 2nd Instructional Coordinator.  She began her career in education in 2004 as a second grade teacher at Turner Elementary School.  In 2013, Ms. LaKeisha Goree became the Instructional Coordinator at Turner Elementary / 6th Grade Academy.

 

Ms. LaKeisha Goree earned an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting in 2000 from Southern University Shreveport Bossier. In 2003 she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University Shreveport, as well as Elementary Education Certification in 2005. She furthered her education at Louisiana Tech University and in 2008 received Reading Specialists Certification and in 2010 earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. 

 

It is her sincere belief that “Every child can learn in a different way.”  AND – FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!

 

Ms. LaKeisha Goree is the very proud mother of one son, Jaylen Jones and one daughter, Sanai Goree.  She is a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated.  In her leisure time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, and traveling.   

 

As a committed mentor of at-risk young men for over 15 years, Dr. Webb embraces education not as job, but as a calling. Education was not always choice, but his destiny. He began his journey as a second grade teacher at Sunset Acres in December 2005. After six years of preparing second grade students for the third grade, Dr. Webb chose to further his career by applying to work at a TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) school in DeSoto Parish. In 2011, he began working at Mansfield Elementary School where he served as a third grade Math Mentor Teacher. While working in Mansfield, he participated in the Superintendent-led administrative Co-Hort, called Operation L.E.A.D. In 2014, Dr. Webb saw an opportunity to come back to Caddo as an Assistant Principal at University Elementary School. One year later, he was appointed the Principal of Turner.

 

Dr. Webb earned an Associate of Science degree in Accounting from Southern University in Shreveport and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, where he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. While working as a Bell Captain and New Employee Trainer at Sam’s Town Casino, Dr. Webb decided to enhance his training skills by pursuing an Adult Education program at Northwestern State University. In 2003, he received his Master of Education Degree in Educational Technology. In 2004, he received his Specialists in Education Degree in Educational Leadership. In 2011, Dr. Webb earned his Doctoral Degree from Grambling State University. 

 

“Children don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care”, is the ultimate philosophy that drives our principal each day.

 

Dr. Webb is married to Jamie Webb and is the proud father of two beautiful children, Drayden and Baylie. He is a product of Caddo Parish Schools and is fully invested in molding future products of Caddo.
